Tynemouth Photographic Society is a well-known camera club in the North East of England, founded in 1903. The society is an active member of the Northern Counties Photographic Federation (NCPF) and the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB). We have won many awards in competitions over the years.
Our meetings bring together people with an interest in photography, no matter what their level of experience. Members photograph a wide variety of subjects, presenting their results either as projected images or as prints. Our competitions have open and advanced sections. Each summer we hold an exhibition of members' prints.
We meet in our own club rooms at
106 & 107 Howard Street, North Shields - map (we moved in 2019).
Our special interest groups: Video Film-making, Digital & Practical, Nature and Record have separate meeting nights. One annual membership fee covers membership of all the groups. An informal Afternoon group is also open to all.
We keep in touch during the summer with outdoor meetings and our newsletter, called The Film Pack.
Visitors and prospective members are always welcome to attend any of our meetings. Just turn up, see what is happening and meet some of our members. Feel free to attend three meetings before deciding whether to join. If you wish to find out more about us before you visit, please complete the form on the Contact Page and a member will get in touch.
