Members please note
Tynemouth Photographic Society first opened its doors in March 1903 and has been in operation since that date. We are a well-known camera club in the North East of England and have won many recognised trophies in local and major competitions over the years. The society is an active member of the Northern Counties Photographic Federation (NCPF) and the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB).
Our weekly meetings bring together people with an interest in photography, no matter what their level of experience or expertise. Our members photograph a wide variety of subjects, presenting their results either as projected images or as prints. Our competitions have open and advanced sections and each summer we hold an exhibition of members' prints.
We meet in our own club rooms at
106 & 107 Howard Street, North Shields - map (we have moved).
Our special interest groups: Video Film-making, Digital & Practical, Nature and Record have separate meeting nights. One annual membership fee covers membership of all the groups. We also have informal Lunchtime and Afternoon groups, open to all.
We keep in touch during the summer with outdoor meetings and our newsletter, called The Film Pack.
Visitors and prospective members are always welcome to attend our meetings. Just turn up for any meeting, see what is happening and meet some of our members. Feel free to attend three meetings before deciding whether to join the Society. If you wish to find out more about us before you visit, please complete the form on the Contact Page and a member will get in touch with you.
